The dogfight capabilites are pretty close (the f16 has a small advantage when flown carefully), the r27er is absolutely an improvement over the aim7m, the gun on the mig29 is better, it's faster, and the plane is generally alot easier to fly for most people as it requires a lot less of a delicate hand on the throttle.
